The Lukoil Racing Team burst into the world of autoracing 7 years ago: in March of 1997 the Oil Company LUKOIL made a decision to found the racing team for participation in the national competitions.
In 1997 LUKOIL Racing Team took a part in three classes: Touring-1600, Supertouring and Formula-3 in the races for the ROTHMANS-ASPAS Cup of the Moscow Open Championship 1997. In the very first year LUKOIL RACING was the winner in this tournament in Formula-3 in Drivers Championship, while the title of the best team LUKOIL RACING won in all classes.
In 1998 LUKOIL RACING continued to develop its success and won all projects, where participated: the titles of the best team and one-two places (doubles) in the Drivers Championship in Formula-3, Supertouring and Cup-1600 (Touring-1600) of the Russian Championship NGSA in the ring races. In the same classes have been won the titles of a champion of Moscow and a winner of LUKOIL CUP.
In 1999 LUKOIL RACING became the winner of the Russian Championship in the classes, where the team participated – Formula-3 and Touring-1600. The team drivers were the absolute leaders!
In the season of 2000 LUKOIL RACING became the Russian Champion of Formula-3 and took the second place in Touring-1600. The team driver Alberto Pedemonte – was again the Russian Champion (of Formula-3) and Nikolay Mezentsev - was the second in the Drivers Championship.
In the season of 2001 the LUKOIL RACING Team was the Champion of Formula-3 and Supertouring. The team driver Alberto Scilla was the Russian Champion of Supertouring, Alberto Pedemonte – the vice-champion of Formula-3, while Alexey Dudukalo was the second in Supertouring.
In the season of 2002 the LUKOIL RACING Team repeated its success: won again the Russian Championship of Formula-3 and Supertouring. The team driver Alberto Scilla was the Champion of Supertouring, while Alexey Dudukalo was the silver prize-winner. The title of the champion has been also won in Formula-3 (by Andrea Belicchi). The second driver of the team – Alexey Pavlovskiy became the bronze prize-winner of the Championship.
The season of 2003 was the most difficult for LUKOIL RACING Team, which participated in 5 Championships of six European countries. But at the same time that season was one of the most successful: LUKOIL RACING won three titles of a champion in the Constructors Championship. Four champion titles have been won by pilots in the Drivers Championships. Alexey Dudukalo became the Russian Champion of Supertouring, Yuriy Bayborodov – of “Formula – Rus”. Besides that, Alexey Dudukalo was the winner of the Russian Cup of Supertouring, while Alberto Scilla became the silver prize-winner. Andrea Belicchi won the title of a Champion of Finland (Formula-3), Alexey Pavlovskiy became the silver prize-winner of the Championship. In all, in 2003 the team drivers participated in 55 races, gained 22 victories and 53 times were on the podium.
